Splashback: When Light Becomes Part of the Design

Sometimes the most striking features in a space aren’t the boldest ones.

This kitchen splashback features hand-sculpted look tiles in a soft off-white tone, laid horizontally to create a subtle sense of movement across the wall. Paired with a matching off-white grout, the joins quietly disappear, allowing the texture itself to become the star of the show.

During the day, it provides a clean and timeless backdrop to the kitchen. But when the under-cabinet LED lighting comes on, the splashback takes on a whole new personality. Light and shadow dance across the surface, highlighting every ripple and contour, bringing depth and character to what could otherwise be a simple white wall.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful material selections can add interest without overwhelming a space. Understated, elegant, and full of detail waiting to be discovered.
